Eminem was performing around Europe this summer which included a huge appearance at this Summer’s Reading & Leeds Festival. Headlining on August 25th he graced his audience with tunes like ‘Toy Soldiers’ and ‘Stan’ and surprised them with guests like Dido. That would have went off! Eminem is known for his crazy honest lyrics and his out of this world flow, considering this, we should be prepared for his new album Marshall Mathers LP 2 out this winter as it is estimated to be a hit. His newly released track is called Berzerk, it depicts hardcore rap with a rock and roll vibe. Infamously, Eminem is known for dissing celebs in his music and bringing up controversies.  On his track Berzerk ,that will feature on his upcoming album, he talks about Lamar Odom and refers to his Wife as the ‘Ugly Kardashian’ (A bit harsh but that’s Eminem for us).He has definitely created a buzz for the album out in November  with this recently released track.

NEW SINGLE ALERT. Drake’s ‘Hold on, we’re going home’. His dance and soul infused song is quite different to what we are used to, genre wise. However, lyrics wise drake is certainly one to express emotion when it comes to talking about women which isn’t surprising here. What I really want to know is who is he referring to? She’s a good girl, she acts so different around him and they are going home lol. I’ve seen here and there people think he’s referring to Rihanna, hmm I don’t know about that but this song Is to feature on his highly anticipated album dropping in mid September.

I haven’t been on this for a while hello hello hello but let’s get right into business. SOOO controversy has been created by a track Big Sean released on twitter that fell short from being on his upcoming album Hall of Fame. ‘Control’ features Jay Electronica and Kendrick Lamar, of course he goes in on this track as usual, and he actually is one of my favourite rappers in the game right now.

However, his verse that goes a lot like this

I’m usually homeboys with the same n***** I’m rhyming with, but this is Hip Hop and them n***** should know what time it is. And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron‘, Tyler, Mac Miller. I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n*****, tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*****

has caused a lot of controversy on the blogs, radio stations and all of that. Oh and he also claims he is ‘The King of New York’(The guy isn’t even from New York). Ok, he does go in on his verse, but Kendrick is claiming he is better than a lot of big stars in the Hip Hop world right about now. Do you agree?

Heeeey! Lol (I literally laughed before I began to write the next sentence) did you see DJ Khaled’s proposal to Nicki Minaj on MTV? I mean it is a bit extra to propose to someone via one of the biggest entertainment news channels! DJ Khaled presented a, reportedly, half a million dollar ring during the proposal. From a female’s perspective, I would find that proposal quite weird and unusual. However, like I suspected (like the smart PR girl I am), it WAS a publicity stunt.  OF COURSE! Nicki Minaj said it herself.
In a phone call with Hot 97 Radio Station Nicki Minaj says ‘DJ Khaled is my brother…He wasn’t serious’. I heard it with my own ears and she sounded very sincere, and it isn’t surprising because DJ Khaled needs as much buzz around him as possible as his album ‘Suffering from Success’ is going to be released exactly 7 days after Drake’s. BUT It doesn’t end there… after his fake proposal he releases a new single called ‘I Wanna Be With You’ which features Future, Rick Ross and notably Nicki Minaj. What do you think of Khaled’s movements lately?

Hey people, so as you know Tinie Tempah has been working on a new album (or you might not know, that’s why I’m here :D). This new album features his new single ‘Trampoline’ which looks likely to be a club hit, produced by Diplo.
Like I said the song is a good song to ‘twerk’ to in the club (not that I twerk in the club myself) however the official video that was released isn’t that impressive at all.  I mean the editing and visuals of course are up to scratch but the concept is confusing and meaningless. The video includes a rabbit, jelly and a chatterbox (that paper thing). Maybe I’m missing something but the video doesn’t entice me to like the song any better than I originally do. Hopefully this is not only what Tinie has to offer as his new album ‘Demonstration’ is out soon!

Tim Westwood with his good friend Nicki

Hello people! I’ve got some news for you all! As we all know Tim Westwood has been in the game for a LONG time, he’s been DJ’ing since he was a teenager!  He’s really seen it all, all the game changers and artist blow ups. He is a talented DJ, otherwise he wouldn’t be so popular, he keeps us entertained with the latest hip hop, R&B (slow jams), grime and dancehall. For a middle aged Englishman that’s pretty sick. Unfortunately, from being replaced on the drive time spot on BBC Radio 1xtra last year, he is now being robbed of his Saturday night spot on Radio 1 and 1xtra which resulted in him being booted off altogether.

Ok yeah so Tim Westwood is 55 years old and all but he is well known in the industry and very well respected, because of his knowledge of the industry! He has a lot of fans, and I am definitely one. We actually spoke last year at an event organised by  Bigga Fish (Not for profit organisation) and BBC Radio 1xtra . There was a huge event where a few 1xtra presenters where DJ’ing,  Tim Westwood turned up to the event, and we ended up having a chat about what his plans were for the future, his experience and we had a good laugh as well. Can I just say, Tim Westwood is passionate about what he does and is a lovely and ambitious man and it’s a shame he’s been kicked off 1xtra, it really is!

How much do you know about Water? Lol well I could only be talking about Glaceau’s Vitamin Water’s new and creative campaign. Big Time Rapper 50 cent actually is a shareholder of the drinks company, and endorsed the brand a few years back. We all know he is definitely up there with the entrepreneurial rappers like P Diddy and Jay Z to name the least, making a huge mark on the business world and building their own empires.

This new online campaign, named #shinebright, includes a competition that features 6 Creatives with expertise in music, fashion, food or photography and one of those is co-founder of the clothing brand, Trapstar. The guys behind Trapstar started off with not much at all and I think their brand including its identity, purpose and message was spot on with their target audiences and filled the gap in the market for urban clothing 7 years ago; through this they had stars like Rihanna and J Cole wearing their items. Mikey, (co-founder) actually spoke about their journey at a  talk I went to last year, anyways if you’re into clothing design check the competition out http://www.vitaminwatershinebright.com/#

Good Evening All! I’m a big fan of channel 4 dramas, I feel like they are the most realest and truest to this generation and a lot of us can actually relate! Without a doubt, Channel 4 always succeeds in pleasing their target audiences. Especially with Top Boy; a four part drama about the unnoticed ‘hood life’ lived in London today. Series 1 was such a hit, Channel 4 are going to be introducing series 2 very soon!
The drama starred well known actor Ashley Walters, but to my surprise co-actor and UK rap legend Kano did stand out for the quality of his acting; he really delivered! Of course, Kano isn’t unfamiliar with success! P’s and Q’s back in the noughties saw him rise above all the other grime artists trying to make it in the underground scene. He recently landed a deal with Mercedes Benz, now he is the face of the new a class series campaign and features in a mass media advertisement! I do admire his talents, and think he has yet to see his biggest success, AND he’s from Canning Town maybe one day I’ll bump into him (I wishhhhh).

Hope you are all well! London born and raised Jay Sean has released his new single this year. Just a reminder, at one of the peaks of his career he went from working with UK’s Grime leaders (you know like Chipmunk, when he was called that and Boy Better Know) to US’s Hip Hop stars like Lil Wayne and Birdman (Well he is signed to Cash Money Records!). Ever since, he really has been doing BIG things over in the US! The track is featuring Rick Ross, adding his usual style and is called ‘Mars’. I can imagine Jay Sean really going down well with the R&B scene in the US with ‘Mars’. However those true R&B fans and Soul sisters and brothers would like this one too (like me). OHYH! His album ‘Neon’ is out on the 30th of this month. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing that!

Daley is a R&B artist, and one of the best to come from the UK, who always manages to blow me away whenever I hear his voice (I also saw him live at Wireless!!). I mean I have never heard anything like it! He recently blessed his fans with a 3 track EP, featuring the track named ‘Songs That Remind Me Of You’ which I cannot get enough of! If you don’t know about Daley YET, I definitely recommend listening to his live performances on YouTube, and his other amazing material and oh yes don’t forget to subscribe to his mailing list!

R&B Divas Los Angeles Cast

Hey Guys! R&B Divas LA Premiered last week and I am really starting to love this season; the reality TV show seems to really be about women empowerment, togetherness and soul searching through music. It’s so inspiring! It is a TINY bit like The Gossip Game (which was about Women in Hip Hop journalism careers) but with more mature minded, spiritually driven and motivational women.

Kelly is an extremely talented, choir starting, soul belter. She’s only worked with the best and now continues to share and expose even more talent and I just can’t wait till she showcases her own exclusively on the show.

Dawn was part of the R&B sensation En Vogue who were chartbusters in the 90’s. ‘Hold me tight and don’t let go, doooont let goooooooo’ Amazing

Michel’le, the ex-girl of the living legend Dr Dre, unexpectedly has a strong soulful singing voice and was up there with the best in the late 80’s and 90’s.

Lil Mo, the ghetto fabulous Hip Hop/R&B artist transformed, married mother with children, is also on the show.

Chante Moore was amongst the musical greats like Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston and collaborated with artists like Boys II Men, she seems so fun and outgoing! She really brings life to the cast this season.

Claudette Ortiz was a former member of the R & B group City High. Remember that soul story of a track ‘What Would You Do?’ Ahh one of my fave tracks from back in the day, I’m so excited for the cast on this season!
Festivals 2013

This is a little affordable festival outfit I put together, since their has been NO rain during this years summer festivals, forget those old fashioned wellies and raincoats! This asos dress is really cheap and creates a simple, complete look and the boots are a must have, and an all year round essential. The nails and jewellery really just add a bit of edge.

Diplo and Dj Fresh are both in my list of favourite producers and this tune is definitely one of my twerk-to favourites!

Hey Guys! It's lovely to see you here! Here's me posing for the camera at Wireless Festival HAHA. It was so much fun and definitely was a highlight of my summer. I got to see Daley, A$AP Rocky and the A$AP crew, Nas, and The Legends of Summer Jay Z and, I got to gawk at, Justin Timberlake (My massive celeb crush). Wireless was an amazing experience; good weather, good music and good vibes!
